Test the way back

A copy is only useful if you can recover a readable document from it. Occasionally choose a small file, restore it to another folder and check that it opens as expected.

Keep recovery instructions alongside your own records, without including passwords in public documents. The goal is not an impressive backup dashboard, but a practical route back to your work.
